Statement of the Syrian Democratic Alliance on the Solingen Crime in Germany

On August 28, 2024, the heinous crime in Solingen shook the consciences of Syrians residing in Germany, as well as Germans of Syrian origin. This atrocious act horrified us with its brutality, which no human can accept, and reminded us of the dangers that threaten us all, whether we are migrants or German citizens.
Germany has been and remains the most welcoming country for Syrian refugees, offering them safety and protection. However, we now find ourselves threatened by these terrorist acts that aim to destabilize societal peace and foster extremism. This crime, which coincided with a festival celebrating the cultural and human diversity in the city—a festival that has been held for over 650 years—is an attack on the values of humanity as a whole.
The Syrian Democratic Alliance strongly condemns this crime and expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families, recognizing the pain and suffering caused by terrorism.
The Syrian people have long suffered from the terror of the Assad regime and the terrorist organizations it has planted in the country, such as Hezbollah and the criminal groups Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
The Alliance believes that political transition in Syria is the primary solution to curb waves of migration and asylum, and to eliminate the root causes of extremism and terrorism.
It also reaffirms its commitment to the values of freedom, democracy, and justice, and stresses the importance of strengthening these values within the Syrian community in Germany, while respecting the German constitution and laws that protect human life and dignity.
The Alliance emphasizes that peace and tranquility should be for the innocent souls we have lost, and we reaffirm our commitment to combating this blind extremism that threatens everyone.
